The Viva.com Terminal App converts Android devices and iPhones into secure payment acceptance terminals, integrating seamlessly into any checkout system. Currently, the app is supported by 1165+ device types, ensuring compatibility across all possible setups.

My role in this project was to lead the team in organizing and implementing a radical redesign as part of Viva.com’s rebranding.

Problem identification and research
The old app may have done its job; however, it was difficult to use, and users often had trouble completing payments. We considered user comments from various platforms and internal dialogue with colleagues from customer support, creating a list of problems and suggestions for improvement.

Design and development
The competition was not great, which limited our research. The redesign was mainly based on user interviews with customers, but it also took into account the many limitations we faced from the development team. This is the reason why these limitations have often prevented us from doing things that we had in mind.

Final outcome
Despite the limitations, we endeavored to achieve a result that would be highly functional and user-friendly. Our goal was to ensure payments could be completed swiftly and with minimal actions required. We streamlined all other functions to be straightforward, which significantly reduced the support workload. The results speak for themselves, with successful transactions exceeding 97-98% per day across thousands of online transactions.
